Who actually holds my money?

This is the single most important fact about how the platform is built, and it is worth stating before anything else: your money is never paid to Tawakkul, and Tawakkul cannot move it.

Subscription funds are payable to Tawakkul Real Estate Investment Trust and are received into a bank account in the Trust’s own name, maintained under the authority of the trustee. TSX Trust Company is the Trust’s sole trustee. It is a subsidiary of TMX Group — the company that operates the Toronto Stock Exchange — and is a federally regulated trust company. The distinction worth understanding is not which building the cash sits in; it is that the account belongs to the Trust rather than to the manager, and that the manager is not the trustee and cannot become one without a unitholder vote.

What that means in practice: if Tawakkul as a business ceased to exist tomorrow, the Trust's assets would not be in a Tawakkul bank account. The separation is structural, not a policy anyone can change under pressure.

It is also the reason this platform will never show you a "pay now" button that takes a card. A payment page that collects money into a manager-controlled account is a custody arrangement, and a manager holding client money is exactly the arrangement Canadian securities regulation is designed to prevent.
