Shaykh Faisal Hamid Abdur-Razak

Ameer of the Ahlus Sunnah Council of Canada and founder of the Islamic Forum of Canada.

Full biography

Studied in Saudi Arabia from 1977 to 1986 at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah and King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, and later at York University. He founded the Islamic Forum of Canada and the Al-Faisaliyyah Foundation, and established the Al-Faisaliyyah Madrasah, which has taught in the GTA for thirty years. He has served as khateeb for over fifty years across Canada, the United States, Britain, Malaysia, South Africa and elsewhere, holds Ijāzah of Irshad in several ṭarīqahs, and received the Global Islamic Personality Award. He is the author of works on Qur'anic sciences, hadith, fiqh, ʿaqīdah and tasawwuf, and hosts the weekly programme Message of Mercy.

Dr. A. Q. Rana, MD, FRCPC, FRCP (Hon)

Neurologist · Toronto

Neurologist specialising in Parkinson's disease; founder of the World Parkinson's Program.

Full biography

Practises neurology in Toronto with a specialisation in Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. He founded the World Parkinson's Program, a Canadian charity providing free medication to uninsured patients internationally, and was founding editor-in-chief of Research and Reviews in Parkinsonism. He holds an honorary FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and received the Wayne Hening Award. His patient education material has been translated into more than twenty languages and distributed in over fifty countries.

Dr. Mohammed Quadri, MD, MBA

Healthcare executive and physician-scientist · Hackensack Meridian Health

Vice President of Strategy for Academics, Research and Innovation at one of New Jersey's largest health networks.

Co-founder of the Hackensack Meridian Health Research Institute, where he contributed to a 25% growth in the research portfolio. Principal investigator of the RISE Study, developing non-invasive breath-based diagnostics for sleep disorders. Eighteen years at HMH, progressing from sleep researcher to Vice President of Strategy, with responsibility for service-line planning, post-acute care, ambulatory expansion and value-based care frameworks. Medical degree from St. Petersburg State Medical Academy, MBA in healthcare administration, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Public Health certified.

Umair Waseem, MBA

Real estate and capital markets · Toronto

Fourteen years in real estate development, private and institutional equity, with transaction experience above $5 billion.

Has originated, underwritten and executed mixed-use, multi-family and seniors' housing investments across Canada, across development, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking and corporate development. Executive MBA from the Rotman School of Management (Dean's List), Bachelor of Commerce in economics and finance from the University of Toronto (Dean's List), Real Estate Management Program at Harvard, and CFA Level II.

Regional Director in RBC's wealth management and insurance divisions, and a director of the Chartered Institute of Financial Planning.

Fifteen years in Canadian financial services, with strategic oversight of regional operations and multidisciplinary teams delivering financial, retirement and risk management planning to mass-affluent and high-net-worth clients. Chartered Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter and Registered Retirement Consultant, with a focus on estate planning, tax-efficient wealth transfer and risk mitigation. Serves on the Board of Directors of the Chartered Institute of Financial Planning.

Shaykh Abdulkadir Osman, MPP, MPA, LL.M.

Policy advisor and imam · Ontario Public Service

Policy advisor with eighteen years in the non-profit sector, and an imam teaching across the GTA.

Full biography

Holds a Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration and Master of Laws from York University, and an Honours BA in public policy, political science and international affairs from the University of Toronto. Began Islamic studies under Somali scholars and continued in Egypt and Syria, studying under Shaykh Muhammad Guled, Shaykh Anmar Nasir, Shaykh Ramadan al-Buti and scholars of Al-Azhar, across tafsir, hadith, ʿaqīdah, fiqh, usul al-fiqh, naḥw, ṣarf, balāghah, sīrah and tasawwuf. Serves as an imam and teaches at mosques and Islamic centres throughout the GTA.
