Fund administrator
Who keeps the unitholder record?
Pinnacle keeps the register, strikes net asset value and produces your statements.
A fund administrator is the party that keeps the books. Pinnacle Fund Administrators maintains the register of unitholders, calculates net asset value per series, processes subscriptions and redemptions, and produces the statements and tax slips you receive.
The reason this matters is the same reason the trustee matters: the record of what you own is not kept by the people who sold it to you. If the manager and the administrator disagreed about your unit count, there would be two independent sets of books to reconcile rather than one word against nothing.
Administration is not audit and it is not custody. Pinnacle keeps the record, TSX Trust holds the assets, PwC checks the statements. Three different organisations, deliberately.
